Designer folding a paperboard package in a studio
Packaging & Presentation Design

A Cheyenne studio drawing packaging concepts, product sheets and shelf materials — then handing over a clean, production-ready set of files.

About

Studio note
Cheyenne, WY

Fish Associates is a design studio working on how a product looks before anyone touches it. We build packaging concepts, arrange text and graphics, and draw the label and outer artwork until the object reads clearly from three feet away.

We stay on the design side of the table: concepts, layouts, presentation materials and a tidy handover pack. No manufacturing, no printing, no media buying — just the visual thinking and the files that carry it.

Anatomy of a pack

Tap a point on the carton. Every panel does one job, and the job decides the layout.

The three-foot face

Brand mark, product name and one benefit. Nothing else competes at aisle distance.

Twelve days,four moves

  • Day 01

    Brief & shelf audit

We look at where the product will physically stand and who stands next to it.

  • Day 03

    Concept routes

Two or three visual directions, each with a different centre of gravity.

  • Day 07

    Layout build

Chosen route drawn out across every panel, format and presentation card.

  • Day 12

    Asset handover

Sized files, placement specs and a labelled folder structure you can pass on.

Index

Words we use

Dieline

The flat outline a carton is cut and creased from. Everything we draw sits inside it.

Face panel

The side a shopper meets first. It carries the decision, not the details.

Keyline

A hairline frame used to hold an element without adding visual weight.

Bleed

Artwork extended past the trim so no white sliver appears after cutting.

Shelf block

Several facings side by side. Good packaging designs for the block, not the single unit.

Asset pack

The final labelled folder: sized layouts, specs, fonts list, placement notes.

Try it

The three‑second
test

Drag the slider to walk away from the shelf. Whatever survives at nine feet is the only thing your packaging really says.

Small batch
Norwell
Sea salt tonic

Bottled in small runs. Contains mineral salt, citrus peel and cane sugar. Best served cold with a wide slice of grapefruit.
